Extract Attract at a Glance
Here at Extract Attract, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our founding in 2000, we have been determined to make an impact. The core of our efforts is to bring our team’s fresh ideas and passion to the range of activities we’re involved in. Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs.
Extract Attract sparked from an idea our CEO Shana Joes had to incorporate vision boarding into the lives of our peers in our age bracket. She came to COO Shawana Futrell with this initial idea, to host vision board parties every month of the year with different themes and purposes, have guest motivational speakers, and activities that build empowered thinking with great career based ethics and practices.
During this meeting the name was birthed, with symbolism of eliminating doubts, and embracing destiny. After the 1st successful party, we thought that it would be even more effective to give this knowledge to the teens of our community who are deprived of resources due to low income limitations.
We then saw how much of an impact it was having on the young minds of our youth, and with the success rate of our teens obtaining jobs, we knew it was indeed more rewarding to give this information and help to our younger generation, full fledge for two day sessions, every quarter of the year.
After our 2nd Teen Job Prep, we were fortunate to have Shenika Brown join our board as Community Liaison. We have since done workshops at the Suffolk Workforce Building, volunteered with NextGen, and began our process to expand in the 757 area.
